Book List: The Hunger Games

I have not been able to put this book down. I'm almost done which means that I will have to go out and pick up the second book... to the great detriment of my schoolwork.

The Hunger Games is a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins which chronicles the journey of a girl as she fights for her life. Literally. In an arena with twenty-three other contestants on live tv.

The land of Panem is made up of Twelve Districts and the Capitol, which controls them all. Following a great rebellion, the Capitol uses the annual Hunger Games to keep the subjects of the surrounding districts in line. One male and one female, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, are chosen each year as their district's 'tribute' and are sent of to compete to the death. The three part series follows sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, the female tribute from District Twelve, as she competes in the Games on her younger sister's behalf. The intensity, mind games, and expertly placed plot twists will pull you in and leave you incapable of thinking about anything else.
