A few words of wisdom, via pinterest

I've been pinterested for about five months now and have slowly accumulated and dedicated one of my boards to inspirational quotes and photos. I thought I would share some of my favorites here, since everyone could use a little inspiration once in a while.

I also have boards dedicated to style, home decorpartiesfood, and a few other themes - check me out!

Shades of Blue

{Top: J.Crew, Pants and Shoes: Gap, Necklace: Aldo}

I almost had a last minute outfit change this morning because I felt self-conscious about the length {or lack thereof} of my pants. But then I remembered Kendi's post from a few days ago and decided to embrace it.

In other news, can we please discuss how incredibly excited I am for John Mayer's new single? Because I am pretty much speechless. So instead, let's take a listen, shall we?

Animal Friends

{Tshirt and Sweater: Gap, Jeans: American Eagle, Boots: Steve Madden, Necklace and Earrings: J.Crew Outlet, Watch: Aldo}

Meet Jerry, the Giraffe. Yep, that's right, Jerry with a 'J' and not a 'G'. What can I say, I'm a maverick. He's good friends with Otis, if you'll remember him. We're like the three musketeers.

I love my outfit today. It's so unbelievably comfortable but still looks put together. I could, and just might, wear this everyday. We'll see. It may depend on when I get to my laundry pile...

I spent last weekend and part of last week away at a conference for work. I had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and met some fantastic new people. All in all, it was a great trip! But sadly resulted in a severe lack of posts. I'll try to be better this week!

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I don't usually watch award shows - other than the Tony's and the CMA's - but was somehow pulled into the glitz of the Academy Awards last night. My favorites were Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, and Angelina Jolie. And I'm so happy for Meryl Streep - she's so talented and so deserving. What did you think?

Pop

{Plaid: Holister, Vest: Jacob, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Old Navy, Bracelets: J.Crew}

You know when you have an idea for an outfit floating around in your brain but when you finally put it together in real life, it isn't quite what you had hoped? Well, I had feared that this would be one of those times but I'm happy to say that it wasn't at all! Hooray for low expectations(?)! I am usually afraid of oranges {and sometimes reds} but I think that they played well together here and added the perfect springtime pop.

On another note, check out my new hair! I've never ever had it this short before - I used to always have to be able to fit it all into a ponytail for dance. It's still weird how much it moves and just how much volume there is now that it isn't weighed down by my old length. I'm still figuring out how to style it, but so far I am very happy with my decision to chop.

What I Wore: Winter Remix Challenge

I had the pleasure of taking part in What I Wore's Winter Remix Challenge a few days ago.

What I Wore was the very first personal style blog I ever stumbled across and immediately fell in love with it and the fashion blog world. What I Wore, and the other blog discoveries I made through Jessica's blog were what lead me to start my own last year. I remember Jessica doing these remix challenges many moons ago, but I didn't have a blog to participate. I'm so glad that she's brought them back and that I had the opportunity of being included this time around!

So go take a gander over here to marvel over all the other amazing submissions that Jessica so kindly featured on her blog.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm spending mine watching the Cougar Town premiere and snacking on a color-themed dinner.

Countdown to the Chop

{Chambray: Old Navy, Pants: Gap, Shoes: Old Navy, Belt: shop in San Francisco}

Fifteen hours from now my hair will be chopped right off.
And I could not wait any longer.

In other news, I enjoyed the bright pops of color in this outfit - it really made my day to see flashes of coral on the floor every time I took a step. What a great Friday treat, huh?

Confession Time

{Cardigan: Anthropologie, Cami: American Eagle, Jeans: Gap, Flats: Aldo, Necklace: H&M}

Alright. It's confession time. Last week, I did something I'm not too proud of.
I watched The Bachelor
For the first time ever.

I never fully understood reality tv. I didn't understand all the constructed drama or how they could do some of those things in front of a camera without even acknowledging its presence.
Although I still believe those things - not to mention the amount of eye-rolling that occurs while watching this show cannot be good for my eyesight - I do understand the draw. I get why Courtney, the awful model, gets people yelling at their tvs and coming back each week. I tuned in this week with the pretense that I would see her leave and then be done with watching the show. But boy was I wrong. Not only have I been pulled into this overdramatized world, but I was also disappointed to find that the previews alluding to her potential goodbye were not from last night's episode.

So. Obviously I will just have to keep watching until she does leave... or maybe until the finale. I mean, what choice do I really have at this point?
